Diving the Aquarium at Cap Cana

If you only do one dive in Punta Cana, the site locals call the Aquarium, off Cap Cana, is the one to do. It is shallow and calm most of the year, which suits nervous divers, and it has the thing everyone wants a photo of: nurse sharks resting on the sand.

This is our own dive day there, plus what you are likely to see and the basics to sort before you go.

Dive Day Highlights

We started our dive early, departing from the Fishing Lodge in Cap Cana. Despite a little surface wind and waves, the dive went smoothly. On our second dive, we descended into the clear waters of the Aquarium. Schools of fish surrounded us, and to our amazement, we shared space with resting nurse sharks  calm and majestic. This was a bucket-list experience that left a deep impression. If you're coming to Punta Cana, diving here is a must.
