Playa Limón: The Wild Beach Near Miches, 90 Minutes from Punta Cana

By PuntaCana·Jan 20, 2026·3 min read

Playa Limón is on the north-east coast of the Dominican Republic, on the Samaná side of the country rather than in the Punta Cana resort zone. It is the closest of the beaches in this section to Bávaro, but it is still a proper excursion, and most people see it as part of an eco tour with excursions/horseback-beach-riding-excursion">horseback riding and river crossings rather than as a lie-on-a-towel beach day.

Expect a long, empty shoreline, no resort behind it, and a lot of nature between you and the car.

This is not a beach with facilities. Bring water, sun protection and shoes you can hike in, and book the eco tour rather than trying to find the trailhead yourself.
