We arrived in Punta Cana excited to celebrate our anniversary together. It was our first time in the Dominican Republic, and we were eager to explore Riu Naiboa. After checking in, we headed straight to the first floor to begin discovering the resort.

At 6 PM, we kicked off our trip with happy hour. Drinks were all-inclusive “libre” as they say locally. I ordered my all-time favorite, the Banana Mama, a fruity blend of banana and strawberry that always reminds me of vacations. My husband tried the Mai Tai  new to him, but just as refreshing.

We spent our time walking around the grounds, relaxing by the pools, and preparing for the next day’s activities. The resort had a children’s pool and adult areas, and I particularly loved the look of the Havana-themed sections. The atmosphere was warm and tropical, perfect for making memories.

The beach was absolutely stunning. With white sand, palm trees, and gentle waves, it was one of the most beautiful coastlines we had seen. According to locals, this beach is part of the longest stretch in the Dominican Republic, and it shares the Caribbean Sea and Atlantic Ocean with neighboring Haiti.

Despite arriving later in the day, we soaked in the scenery and made plans to return early the next morning for photos and video shoots to capture our memories.

A Personal Note: Ocean Fears and New Experiences

Although I’ve always been afraid of the ocean mainly because of sharks this trip marked a turning point. I decided to try scuba diving for the first time. It was a big step, but part of our goal was to build new experiences together, and this one would be unforgettable.

Final Thoughts

This trip to Riu Naiboa was about more than just relaxing. It was about celebration, stepping out of our comfort zones, and experiencing a beautiful new culture for the first time.
